In recent years, Helen Keller has been caricatured and turned into a viral internet meme. To the point of even doubting her existence. (Yes we know it's mostly a joke)

It always rubbed us the wrong way considering we're based in The Shoals and pass her birthplace constantly. Laying eyes on the water-well pump where her and Anne Sullivan were able to communicate and convey language. This was a huge moment for people with disabilities and special needs and helped prove that the human spirit can overcome. Helen Kellers spirit is felt locally which is why we believe in Helen Keller.
